We love a nice condenser mic (or capacitive mic if you're from across the pond). While all microphones do the same basic job of converting sound waves into an electrical signal, they each have unique qualities that make them different tools for the audio engineer. Detail, clarity, and cleanliness are all aspects of condenser mics which make them popular for studio recording or professional broadcast. We have decades of experience in live and studio recordings, so if you have questions just give us a call and we'll be happy to guide you into the right mic from our mic locker.
If you'd prefer not to handle the mics yourself, The House of Jax is happy to handle all aspects of your audio production or recording. After all, we got our start in the New York club scene back in the 80s and music is an integral part of our DNA. Visit our page on audio production and drop us a line - we look forward to earning your condenser microphone rental business!
Small diaphragm mics have a small capsule therefore naturally capture higher frequencies and roll off the bass end. Always a good choice for instrumentation that has a lot of higher order harmonics.

Large Diaphragm Mics are typically used for recording vocals, but are also amazing at every other kind of instrument when used by an experienced audio engineer. The larger diaphragm captures the nuances of low frequencies to position whatever you're recording in the front of your mix with little additional EQ.

The multi-pattern GT-57 Studio FET Condenser Microphone is perhaps Groove Tube's most versatile large capsule mic. An ultra-thin 3 micron gold evaporated Mylar diaphragm is uniquely hand-built into the mic. GT exclusive Disk Resonator naturally extends high frequencies to improve detail and depth., The GT-57 microphone is the perfect choice for both vocal and instrument recordings. The 3 popular polar patterns give the recording engineer complete flexibility for all applications.
With the same specs as the Groove Tubes GT-55 mic, but built with a dual sided capsule and pattern selection switch to provide optional Omni and figure 8 polar patterns. All of the features of the high-end multi pattern Groove Tubes GT-67, with FET circuitry replacing the tube for an excellent all around large diaphragm microphone at a modest price.
We think that this is a well rounded vocal mic capable of capturing clean detail, and great on vocals. Comes with a case and ring-style mount, and as will all condenser mics, it requires +48 Phantom Power.
